Becky Bray - Professional Engineer and Land Planner
Becky Bray, a 4th generation Austinite, has announced her plans to seek the Republican nomination for Travis County Commissioner Precinct 3 in the March 2020 GOP Primary. The seat is currently held by incumbent Gerald Daugherty, who yesterday announced that he would not to run for re-election. Precinct 3 covers much of western Travis County.
Bray was born and raised in Austin and has been actively engaged professionally and civically throughout her life. She graduated from St. Andrews, O'Henry, and Austin High (1988), and then went on to earn her B.S. in Civil Engineering (1993) and a Master of Science (1995) at Texas A&M University.
She is considered a transportation expert who has continually worked to foster a collaborative approach to our region's population growth and infrastructure needs. This includes service on the Board of Directors and Transportation Committee of the Real Estate Council of Austin, the Capital Area Transportation Coalition, and the Institute of Transportation Engineers. She has continually strived to be civically engaged in the community through Leadership Austin, Austin Area Research Organization's McBee Fellow, and as an Austin Under Forty Finalist.
Community service has also been important to Bray. She has been actively engaged in nonprofit community needs by serving on boards and holding various leadership positions in the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas, The Settlement Club, Animal Trustees of Austin, The Junior League of Austin, the Susan Komen Foundation, and SafePlace Austin. She's also been a volunteer with Austin Pets Alive! and the Austin Humane Society.
